Today's card is an exercise in trying old things in a new way. I recently watched Jennifer McGuire's recent video on shadow box cards. I have made this kind of shadow box in the past, WAY back when. But the added element of movable parts was intriguing. I also decided to leave my comfort zone of the A2 card and try the mini slimline for this. I used a pre-colored image from klmdigitaldesigns. Being a retired teacher and avid reader this image is near and dear to my heart! I have it in a photopolymer stamp set as well. I wanted the back drop to give the feel of a wooded area so I used one of my new gel press background papers made with Distress Oxide Inks. I used SU stitched nested label die for the opening in the front. Little punched gold butterflies float on pieces of acetate. The sentiment is from an Ideology Tiny Talk sticker booklet. The gold pinstripe is from Love from Lizzy, something new I'm trying. I might have to remake this one and tweak a few things. Love the idea and movement. Now I'm off to make a reading list for this summer so I can go on a book search. I'm old school. I love the feel of a book in my hands. James Patterson, John Grisham here I come!
