Super Moon?

Penacook church&moon (425x640)

Well, it was a good moon. Certainly brighter than usual. We were visiting my daughter in NH this weekend and unfortunately in her location the horizon was covered with a fairly heavy cloud bank. It was high enough that we were unable to see the illusion we had hoped to capture. We did catch this sight.

This is a pretty little town. I would liked to have been in a spot to include the moon bathed river that was in the foreground but , there was a chain link fence between me and the river.

Now if you know me, that’s a good thing! They don’t call me Grace for nothingLaughing out loud.

I have yet to check the shots that were taken with the long lens. If there’s anything good, you’ll be the first to see it.

Have a great evening.

Photo play

Isn’t this  a neat shot? This is right off the  SD card with no editing. The sky was so cool that night. I was out with the dogs and just happened to be in the right place to get the tree branches.Camera  Now I need to learn how to use Photo Shop Elements so I can layer text onto the top right corner.Confused smile

I really love my camera. It has a great shutter speed. I don’t know half of the stuff I can do with it!

Enjoy. Will post card tomorrow.

New Toy

I came home last week to find a mysterious gift on the coffee table. Wrapped nicely it had a card that read “A little something for you”. Inside, the hand written note from my husband said, “For your birthday, anniversary and early Christmas”. Now, I don’t know about you, but in this house that usually means dollar signs flying out the door. The box wasn’t THAT big… or THAT small for that matter. When I finally decided to open it . . . let’s just say it’s a good thing he was at work! I now have a lovely new camera to take my pictures with. The one I have is adequate, but the shutter delay just doesn’t work for taking photos of children. The sharpness of the images are great! Here are a few shots I took to play with it. Now I need to make some cards and see how it works on that! I’m sure it will be GREAT! By the way . . . thanks, Honey! “You dun good!”Rolling on the floor laughingDSC_0020DSC_0031DSC_0016 (2)DSC_0073

Monarch Magic

PICT0091      Fall always brings lovely visitors to my garden. This fella was sunning himself on the rocks on a cool morning. I couldn’t have staged a photo this good. Between the mum and the fallen Veronica flower is shouted the end of the season. He was the perfect addition! We managed to raise several Monarchs this year. I let the milkweed grow in my garden (much to the neighbors dismay!) and was rewarded by several eggs. I gave one to my grandson for his school, kept one at home for my husband to monitor during his recuperation time, and took 3 to school. Every one of them was a male! Many of the ones that visited the garden were male as well.

They are off on their way to Mexico, now.  Here is the card I made with the photo.

Papers are Lovely Lilac, Whisper White and Basic Black from SU. Stamp and scallop die are PTI. Chrystals are from Hero Arts. Cuttlebug E

Feathered Surprise

It is CHILLY this morning. The heavy rain and wind of yesterday have departed and left us with a beautiful brisk morning! Good for a walk. I don’t know why, but decided to take the camera. I guess I was inspired by the sun and the morning fog that was lifting as we left. So glad I did. We spotted this fella about 2 blocks into the walk. We won’t be seeing too many more as the days get colder. We have seen so many herons this year. Not sure if there are more or just we are getting better at spotting them.

Spring Babies

Hello all,

I know this isn't a paper craft but I couldn't resist. This first picture was taken by my 9 year old granddaughter on Saturday morning. I drove by tonight on the way home from school, on the chance that there would be hatchlings.

There they were as cute as could be, sunning themselves. I raced home to get the cameras then spent 2 hours watching them. I have so many other things to do but this was not an opportunity I wanted to pass up. I came home much more relaxed!

Enjoy

Incredible nature!

DSC_0152

For the last 4 years I have been watching this nest on the way to my daughter's house. Every time there are 2 of us in the car and we have a camera, there is nothing there. Last month I went over alone and, low and behold, there were 4 juveniles in the nest.  Naturally I had no camera this trip. You can bet we had one the next time.  This w

eekend the birds were all beginning to fly. This is parent. They were in and out feeding the youngsters. Amazing to watch.

Fall inspiration

I just got this cute set in the mail and had to try it out. This entire card took about 20 minutes, start to finish. All products are SU. My daughter did the challenge for 2Sketches4U blog . I haven't done any in so long, I decided to do it, too. Sorry the photo is a bit "blah". I was rapidly losing the light!
Stamp: Happy Blessings
Paper: Saffron texture, Artichoke DS, Pumpkin, Whisper White
Accessories: artichoke ribbon, blender pen, markers, Sponge.

How is this for inspiration! The colors this year are certainly impressive. The "leaf peepers" that come this weekend will not be disappointed. Even on cloudy days, the colors are stunning, the best we have had in several years. My opinion!

I decided to do a series of fall cards. I love this season and the SU leaf set With Gratitude.

I used this set and markers to get the            multicolored leaf. Then I cut the image into
pieces. The green has been stamped with a the same leaf , but in a gold metallic ink. There wasn't enough light to pick up the sheen.
I reassembled the leaf image with a few slices of the green. The ruby red base was sponged with ruby to give the card more depth.

All supplies are Stampin'Up!

Great grandma's brag book

Well, here are a  few of the pages I did of the first grandchild. She's quite the girl. She loves to play with her dad,  no matter what it is. They came home yesterday so covered in mud the only things on their faces I could see from a distance were their smiles! I didn't have much room on the 6x6 page for some kind of an accent. What do you use for this kind of sport? I really had nothing. When all else fails . . . draw it!! I figured the flags must be used somewhere, right?

This is Emily's work. We took her to her first balloon festival. She was using her grandfather's new camera to take these shots. It really takes some great pictures. He's a trusting soul letting an 8 year old walk around with an expensive piece of equipment.  She has always had a great eye. We may have a budding photographer!

Here she is! Looking very girly. I love the picture of her reading to the baby. It's NEVER too early to read to children!
Tomorrow I have to do the pages for the other 2 kiddos.

Have a great night.

Jun 29, 2008

This is a far cry from the weather we have had the last 2 days! Yesterday afternoon we got 2 inches of rain in 1 hour. It hit again later in the evening and took out power for a bit. Then it came down in a torrent again this morning just before 7. DH is watching the forecast and we are under another severe storm warning with possible tornadic activity! Where's the ark! The city hasn't managed to right itself from the last major rain about 3 weeks ago. We are not used to flooding in the city! Some of the garden got beat down by the torrent this morning, but overall seems okay. Some day I will use these as  card elements. Right now the grandchildren are here. Ages 3 years (boy!) and 4 months don't allow for much stamping. Or sleeping!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
