Old Scraps work!

This card uses a little scrap I just couldn't to throw away. It was made YEARS ago. Probably close to 18 years. That's BAD!

The scrap is on Night of Navy paper from SU and uses a SU stamp set Autumn Floral (long retired). I used some kind of pigment ink to stamp the leaves. Back then I think the only kind I had was the petal shaped inks from Color box.
This little piece resurfaced again last week, so I pulled it out and vowed not to put it away again. It would become a card or trash!
Then I started playing with the gel press and my Distress Oxides. I peeled this background off the press and tossed it on the table to dry... right next to that little navy strip. It was meant to be. A trip through the cutting machine with a Stitched Rectangle STAX die from MFT , a piece of Night of Navy card stock and the card was nearly done.
The sentiment circle was cut with a Stitched Circle STAX die (MFT) and stamped with a stamp from Mega Mixed Messages- PTI.

Sequins from Studio Katia and a little navy organdy ribbon and it is done. Finally that pretty little piece has a home.

Flower Tags

plant tags (640x425)

These cute little fellas have been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks. They are from Michale’s ; one of their clear stamp sets. I found that they did not stamp very well though. They didn’t seem to take the ink very well and the image  was not as crisp as one would expect. They are cute though.

Every spring I thin out my perennial beds and bring them to school to share. Usually I stick a popsicle stick in the plants to mark them. I thought these would be more fun.

Still thinking spring!!

Fun Flapper

flapper (425x640)

Here is a fun little number. Kate and I visited this nice Joann’s store in Concord last weekend. They had some buttons that were to die for.Thumbs up I haven’t seen a display like that anywhere at home!  This cute little flapper jumped right off the rack and into my hand! By the time I got home I knew just what to do with her.

I used the Signature Series Dress form die from PTI and cut a Sweet Blush form and a black one. Her dress is made of strips of real red that were fringed and overlapped. The top and straps are thin ribbon. A little bit of strung pearls finished it.

This is pretty plain for me but I wanted her to be the focus of the card.

Hope you like her.

Pumpkin Night

PICT0188

‘T was the night for ghosts and goblins and ghouls,

For spooking and tricking and acting as fools.

I answered a knock with a bag full of candy,

And hoped the children had toothbrushes handy.

Then I, with a handful of paper and ink,

sat with my punches to ponder and think,

Of the horseman who rode, with out head, says the tale,

Through the darkened forest, near a wooded vale.

Who threw a pumpkin, on a moon filled night,

Giving ol’ Ichabod a terrible fright.

A pumpkin, of course, graces this card.

With punches and time, it’s really not hard.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!                                                                                                                              So much for  poetry. I have not figured how to format the text on this blog stuff yet! Confused smile Materials:  Cardstock - Not Quite Navy, Going Grey,So Saffron, Pumpkin Spice, Chocolate Chip, Mello Moss, /Creamy Caramel.                                                                  Orange was punched with the 2 smaller ovals from SU. They were sponged and assembled into a pumpkin shape. I used some scraps of moss and Chocolate to crumple under the pumpkin and to cut a stem. The moon is punched from So Saffron and sponged lightly with Apricot Appeal. White Craft was sponged to create the light around the moon as well as the highlights on the cloud. The shading is Apricot. The textured paper on the bottom is from crimping, scrunching and separating a layer of Creamy Caramel. The smooth side is glued and the remaining fuzzy side is what you see.

Pieces and parts

Here is another from the scrap bin. I have no idea what stamps were used on the green. I know it was made at my daughter's so I would guess and say it is probably from Hero Arts. We were making tons of background pieces one summer. I'm still using them! The fan is Hero Arts from a Clear set, Arigato. Ovals are SU punches; sentiment is PTI Mixed Messages.

Scraps Only Series

I will be taking a computer class all this week so I have scheduled a few of my scrap only projects. Usually I start the summer with a marathon session and do not allow myself to use anything but scraps or things I previously started and stopped. I also have a ton of card cuts that were not used in workshhops when I was a demo. I NEED to use this stuff. It takes tons of space, so here is a weeks worth of cards made with one set of pre-cuts and scraps! Enjoy.

This is the project that started all the scraps! Sorry about the tipped photo. Still learning Photoshop Elements!

Parisian Breeze Series:
Card 1 - Paper: (Parisian Breeze DSP, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black, Whisper White) SU
Stamps: (Nature Silhouettes) SU ; (Mixed Messages) PTI

Limited Supplies

I know everyone with this hobby has a boat load of scraps. I also have a pile of those images that are stamped, colored and ready to go that didn't work on the first try. Actually, a box full. I decided to pull open one drawer of the scrap file, pull out 2 pieces of paper and not touch another piece until I used every drop, every scrap of those colors. I love the 3x3 cards. The next few posts will be installments in the 3x3 notes made with white, SU's Soft Sky and Blue Bayou, and many old and older images!

CKC Manchester

CKC was an adventure. Kim Hughes was a delight to work with at the Paper Crafts make and take booth. I was also fortunate enough to take a class with her and then stick around and be her assistant at another. Great fun. Below are the cards from the make and take as promised.

I wish I knew who was responsible for designing these as the idea was brilliant. Everyone who made them was excited to be able to use their left-over number stickers! The numbers are making the scallop above LOVE. Use 8 and 3 on their sides and you will get more bumps. The numbers 0,9,6, finish the strip.
Card 2 uses the left over scraps from punching the hearts. The yellow goes inside the card and peeks through the punched or cut heart. The red is also left from card 1, after trimming a thin strip for the scallops and punching the heart. Use letter stickers on the white stock. It gives a nice embossed look. A great idea to use left over stickers!
Now that you have used all the stickers, what do you have left? A sheet of sticky paper with letter holes. Find the part with the h and i together and cut an area big enough to cover the card front. Now simply color in the h and i with the color of your choice. Add a brad for fun.

What a great way to use up a bunch of scraps and recycle the sticker sheets! Perfect projects for EARTH DAY week!

Thank you Paper Crafts for the opportunity.

Hero card 15

PICT0094 I wish I still owned this stamp set!  It is one of my favorites. Alas, what trouble I would be in if I kept them all. ( It looks like I do) I find if I give my favorites to designated people, my favorites can go live with someone else but I can still access them! Ya ha!

All Stampin'UP products except for the green paint chip layer.   Yes, the local paint stores do still have plenty left!

Hero card 14

PICT0091 I love this set. Lovely as a Tree and Sincere Salutations; Kraft, Artichoke and Vanilla  papers. The tree is stamped in Close to Cocoa then colored with a very light green in Copic marker. It reminds me of the hand tinted photographs.
