Retirement Chair

Hello, there. Welcome to my little card making blog.

I'm still operating in the Tim Holtz vibe! He really is inspiring!

As I mentioned before, this is so far removed from my style. I haven't just stepped out of the box... I jumped out and still running with it!

This card is for a friend who is retiring from teaching this year. It's about darned time and in the nick of time, I think!
Anyway... she lives right near a lake where the sky is often beautiful colors and dragonflies are abundant.
I have an old Inkadoo brass stencil with this dragonfly, so I used it and some Ranger Matte Texture Paste on a piece of Bristol Smooth paper that was die cut with a Stitched Rectangle Die-namic from MFT Stamps.
I used Distress Oxide Inks for the background.
I really need to get better at recording the colors I use... I'm certain of Antique Linen, Vintage Photo,Tumbled Glass... I think Peeled Paint, Frayed Burlap. I blended the colors first with a brush. Then, put some on my mat and sprayed with water to tap the panel into to get the spatters. Be sure to dry between. I have to get better at that!

The chair is a Stampin'UP die called Seasonal Layers. It is cut from Wood Textures paper, a 6x6 pack, also from SU.

The grass stamp has to be 40 years old! It was one of the first stamps I bought soon after my daughter was born. It may have been from Hero Arts, but All night Media rings a bell.
The card base is SU Confetti Cream (not sure they even have this any more).

If you haven't tried this method of making backgrounds, please do. It is so freeing!
Be daring... take a chance.
Susan
