A Novel Birthday

Good Day! Are you feeling creative?

This is the card for you. It uses a raft of materials, so hold on!
I'll start with the main layer, as that was the most fun. That stripy texture was achieved using SU reinkers  and alcohol on a cotton swab, drawn across glossy paper. This is a really cool way to get a woodgrain like effect. It is basically the polished stone technique, but without pouncing, just swiping.

Next I used the SU dies, Stitched Nested Lables, to cut a window from the glossy paper and an inlay from black.  The sentiment was stamped with Versa and embossed in white. Both the sentiment and the little table are from the My Favorite Things Stamps set Our Story.

The girl gnome is from KLM Digital Designs and is colored with Copic Markers. Details added with black multiliner .01 and Signo white pen.
I tied a bow in some natural seam binding and added it to the top. The glossy layer was cut with a MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX die then mounted on a black base.

Have a great day,
Susan

I love the gnome but the background intrigues me. I'm going to try that!
