One of the many reasons I like the "Tim Holtz style" of creating is that pieces, otherwise destined for the trash, might often be salvaged. This just might be one. The background started out as a blue, yellow and pink failed stencil resist.
With the help of a lot of supplies and fussing I set out to save it.
Materials:
Collage Medium Matte, Distress Inks, Distress crayons, Translucent Texture paste, Stamps and Stencil set (THMM119) made for Joann's
I stamped over the original background with the clear stamp set from Joann's and Archival ink in black soot. Then I used SEVERAL Distress Ink colors until I liked the color blends. I covered the entire background with Distress Collage Medium. Then I covered the failed resist with the Floral stencil and applied the Translucent texture paste. Once it was dry I started to apply Distress Crayons to intensify the colors around it.
I used some scraps of black paper that had been sprayed with Distress Brushed Pewter Stain and a stitched rectangle die to make the frame for lady stamp which was an image borrowed from a friend. I placed a piece of acetate in the frame to make it look more like a framed image.
She reminded me so much of my grandmother, Aletha.
The Crochet lace die cut was attached and covered with collage medium and distressed with Distress Crayons.
When I find the right sentiment I'll add it .... maybe.
Have a great day.
