I have been into salvaging "junk" backgrounds lately. This piece was a failed eco print from a pile made last fall. The leaves were just not pronounced enough to use the print. I sprayed the piece with some Distress Inks and it came to life. As luck would have it, I had punched this dragonfly from a piece of sprayed background and wasn't crazy about it. I was debating what to use for the other wings when I dropped it onto the background piece. Serendipity! I didn't need any more wings! I cut the other dies, most from Distress inked papers and constructed this card. I'll add a sentiment when I find a home for the card.
Materials:
Dies: Sizzix Thinlits TH Funky Insects, Mixed Media 1
(660220), Funky Wreath (664434), Small Tattered
Flowers (661806); MFT Stitched Rectangles STAX
Distress Inks: Vintage Photo and Vintage Bronze Stain,
Frayed Burlap Oxide, Gathered Twigs Ink brushed lightly around edges.
Distress Crayon - Tarnished brass finger rubbed on center of dragonfly wings and leaves.
Stash bling for flower centers and Dragonfly body.
Take a look at things you are rejecting. Can they be saved? Try it, it's fun.
