Focus on the good gnome

Hello, thanks for visiting.

Todays card is another mixed style card. Backgrounds and gnomes. The background was my first attempt using distress sprays and oxides. I was really happy with this piece. I sprayed Scattered Straw and Shabby Shutters on the mixed media paper. Then I sprayed a bit of Brushed Corduroy and Frayed Burlap on my glass media mat and spritzed lightly with water. I tapped my paper in the ink and dried it between looks.
Always a surprise........
I cut the panel with a MFTstamps Stitched Rectangle Die and mounted it onto MFT Kraft card stock.

I used Sizzix Thinlits Tim Holtz Alterations Die to cut hello out of SU Soft Suede card stock 4 times.
I layered the words together to give the word more visual weight. I stamped the focus phrase from Stampers Anonymous Tiny Text then used a micro liner to turn the o into music notes.

The Gnome is from klmdigitaldesign.com and is colored and attached to the card with foam tape.
Don't forget that KLM is now carrying polymer stamps. For those who have been asking for them, a little birdie told me there will be a large release of them SOON.

Have a creative day,
Susan

Gone in a Flash

Energy and time have a way of vanishing when chasing after a 6 and 3 1/2 year old. I’m running out of steam!
There has been NO time to stamp, but I did make a few things for the magazine call that didn’t get picked up, or in other cases didn’t have time to fuss with trying to make a photo collage for submission. Getting old stinks! I can’t remember how to do things once I’ve done it. I need to do it over and over. I still haven’t learned how to use PSE! No time during school year, the technology requirements for that is staggering! Blah..blah..blah..... as my daughter would say!
This is a real simple number for me, but I reall like the resuts. All PTI products except for the Pacific Point  paper from SU. I used Vintage Picnic and Postmarks. I hand cut the basket.  I have yet to order the die. There is nothing special about the tag, simply cut on the cutter to fit the basket. The word "love" was hand written with a white Signo pen. A dash of glitter and a pop up here and there and , ta-da!

Now to put two little elves to bed and try to stay awake until 10!

Pumpkin Night

PICT0188

‘T was the night for ghosts and goblins and ghouls,

For spooking and tricking and acting as fools.

I answered a knock with a bag full of candy,

And hoped the children had toothbrushes handy.

Then I, with a handful of paper and ink,

sat with my punches to ponder and think,

Of the horseman who rode, with out head, says the tale,

Through the darkened forest, near a wooded vale.

Who threw a pumpkin, on a moon filled night,

Giving ol’ Ichabod a terrible fright.

A pumpkin, of course, graces this card.

With punches and time, it’s really not hard.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!                                                                                                                              So much for  poetry. I have not figured how to format the text on this blog stuff yet! Confused smile Materials:  Cardstock - Not Quite Navy, Going Grey,So Saffron, Pumpkin Spice, Chocolate Chip, Mello Moss, /Creamy Caramel.                                                                  Orange was punched with the 2 smaller ovals from SU. They were sponged and assembled into a pumpkin shape. I used some scraps of moss and Chocolate to crumple under the pumpkin and to cut a stem. The moon is punched from So Saffron and sponged lightly with Apricot Appeal. White Craft was sponged to create the light around the moon as well as the highlights on the cloud. The shading is Apricot. The textured paper on the bottom is from crimping, scrunching and separating a layer of Creamy Caramel. The smooth side is glued and the remaining fuzzy side is what you see.

I am still trying to use a huge backlog of scraps and patterned paper. I had no idea I had enmassed such a collection while a demo. Now I have a lot of lovely paper that is no longer available. HRUMPH! I remember the same issue with quilting fabrics years ago when I actually quilted . . . with fabric!
This is a favorite set from SU called A Flower For All Seasons. The paper is all retired now but I'm sure they have something just a lovely now. The scallops are made with PTI's large scallop die. Ribbon is some old satin from Offray. I found spools of it in my sewing stash! Need to raid that more often now that there is such a trend in overlapping sewing notions and other supplies and techniques. Makes perfect sense to me!

Scraps Only Series

I will be taking a computer class all this week so I have scheduled a few of my scrap only projects. Usually I start the summer with a marathon session and do not allow myself to use anything but scraps or things I previously started and stopped. I also have a ton of card cuts that were not used in workshhops when I was a demo. I NEED to use this stuff. It takes tons of space, so here is a weeks worth of cards made with one set of pre-cuts and scraps! Enjoy.

This is the project that started all the scraps! Sorry about the tipped photo. Still learning Photoshop Elements!

Parisian Breeze Series:
Card 1 - Paper: (Parisian Breeze DSP, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black, Whisper White) SU
Stamps: (Nature Silhouettes) SU ; (Mixed Messages) PTI
